The Canadian Advertising Foundation has a new chair.
Brian Philcox, director, marketing communication at Consumers Gas, was appointed to the position at the foundation’s annual general meeting on April 20.
The previous chair was James Warrillow, president of Canadian Publishing at Maclean Hunter.
Warrillow continues on with the caf as past chair and a member of the executive committee.
Over the past year, the caf has increased its workload by assuming responsibility for preclearance of broadcast advertising in the areas of cosmetics, feminine hygiene and food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Philcox says one of his goals, during his two-year term as chair, is to assist the caf in managing its extended operations as efficiently as possible.
As well, he says he would like to ensure that all media ‘have the appropriate mechanisms in place to protect their integrity, and to provide advertisers with the freedom to access them in a responsible fashion.’ PA
