Bell Canada has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with the United Way of Greater Toronto.
No numbers were disclosed but it is believed the sponsorship is worth much more than $300,000.
The Bell United Wave gives funds to high school students – using the United Way allocation model – to provide approved community service projects.
The scheme began as a pilot program in 1990 with 20 students.
This year 22 high schools in Toronto and almost 300 students will participate in the Bell United Wave. Projects this year include aids awareness and help for latchkey children.
The Bell United Wave kicked off officially May 13 with a special showing of a video collage high school students made about the program. DC
