Tropicana Products, a division of The Seagram Beverage Group, has announced the promotion of Robert Storey to vice-president/general manager of Tropicana Canada.

Storey has been general manager of the firm since 1991.

– Merisel Canada, the Toronto-based distributor of computer hardware and software, has appointed Lisa Held as a corporate communication specialist.

Held was previously public relations co-ordinator with Dell Computer, also of Toronto.

– Jeffrey Barkin has been named advertising and promotions specialist for the three divisions of Robert Bosch, Bosch Automotive, Blaupunkt Car Audio and Cellular and Bosch Power Tools.

For the past three years, Barkin has been managing his own Toronto agency, Strategy Communications.

Agencies

After 15 years with J. Walter Thompson, Jim Herrler has decided it is time to look for something new.

Herrler expects to leave the Toronto agency in June.

Herrler is vice-president management director responsible for Rolex, Crown Life, Northern Telecom and Labatt Breweries of Canada.

Ruth Drake returned to jwt earlier this year as vice-president, chief financial officer.

Drake first joined the agency in August 1980, leaving in 1988 to become chief financial administrative officer at Saffer Advertising.

– Tom Keane has been named managing director of The Media Consulting Group, a division of Genesis Media, to provide media research, marketing and training for media suppliers.

Keane was most recently partner and international marketing director of kpmg in Europe.

– Bill Kerr has been appointed chief operating officer and vice-president client services for Toronto integrated marketing firm Russo.

For the past two years Kerr has operated consulting firm Kerr Direct.

Kerr is a member of the board of the Canadian Direct Marketing Association and a founder and current president of the Association of Direct Marketing Agencies in Canada.

– Saatchi & Saatchi of Toronto has just completed a hiring frenzy that included Doug Lowe among the new additions to the agency.

Lowe has signed on as vice-president, executive broadcast producer for all business after eight years with DDB Needham.

Art director Malcolm Roberts has joined Saatchi to work with writer Dennis Forbes on Toyota. Art director Stephen Jurisic and writer Andrew Anthony are also working on the Toyota business.

Writer Bruce Thompson and art director Janet Fox have been paired up on Tide brand for Procter & Gamble.

Writer Curtis Dufresne has been teamed up with art director Bruce McKay on Beef Information Centre, ICI Dulux paint, Playtex, and Ivory for Procter & Gamble.

Chris Morales has joined Saatchi as account executive on the national Toyota account. He previously handled Saab, Isuzu and Saturn at Cossette Communication-Marketing, Toronto.

Kim Allen is the new account executive on Ivory and Oil of Olay. And Wendy Gosnell is also working on Ivory and Oil of Olay as account supervisor after two years at J. Walter Thompson.

Media

John Chaplin, president of PMB Print Measurement Bureau, has taken over as chairman of the Canadian Advertising Research Foundation from Tony Jarvis, president of Jarvis Sherman & Jarvis, Toronto.

Chaplin was vice-president, director of media services at Foster Advertising for three years before joining pmb in 1978.

He has been an active participant in carf since 1985.

Chaplin began his 34-year advertising career in London, working in media and research for major agencies and in marketing with The Thomson Organization.
