Air Miles has signed another five sponsors, bringing to 19 the number of companies which offer their customers the benefits of the travel reward program.

The new sponsors are Ford Motor Company of Canada, Canadian Pacific Hotels and Resorts, Bell Mobility Paging, Century 21 Real Estate Canada and Hy’s Restaurants.

Air Miles rewards customer loyalty by awarding free miles of economy air travel with each purchase of a sponsor’s product or service.

Once an Air Miles cardholder has saved enough Air Miles travel miles he or she can exchange them for a free round trip on one of the program’s sponsoring airlines: Air Canada, American Airlines, United Airlines and USAir.

The flight must begin and end in North America.

The Air Miles program was introduced here, and is being supervised by Loyalty Management Group Canada of Toronto.

Brian Richardson, vice-president of marketing at CP Hotels and Resorts, says Air Miles allows his company to offer added value to its customers.

As well, Richardson says his company can reward its leisure and infrequent business travellers excluded from other travel incentive programs.

CP Hotels and Resorts will offer 25 travel miles to its customers for each stay at one of its hotels. The company will also redeem travel miles for accommodation.

CP Hotels and Resorts customers can enrol in Air Miles when they check in.

Rick Wilson, direct marketing manager for Ford, says Air Miles members who test-drive selected Ford vehicles will collect travel miles from his company.

Wilson says Ford’s participation in the program is to encourage buyers to examine his company’s products.

Air Miles enrolment applications will be available through all Ford and Mercury dealers in Canada.
