The canadian Business Press has scrapped its advertising agency recognition program.

The service used to determine which shops were legitimate advertising agencies according to criteria established by cbp, and which, therefore, would be entitled to receive the agency discount.

The decision to drop the recognition program was made by the cbp board of directors on the recommendation of a special task force chaired by Mike Doody, president of Action Communications in Markham, Ont.

According to Doody, cbp members would be better served if the association’s limited resources were concentrated on other important programs and activities.

Three Toronto-based groups still offer agency accreditation programs: the Canadian Daily Newspapers Association, the Canadian Community Newspapers Association and the Canadian Association of Broadcasters.
