The CTV Television Network has spun off part of its promotional efforts for the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer, Norway next year with an educational kit for schools.

Susan Cutajar, associate marketing manager, sports, at ctv, says the kit contains an activities book and a 10-minute video offering a look at Canada’s winter sports athletes and the challenges they face.

ctv has worked with Scholastic Canada, the children’s educational book distributor, and Canadian Sport & Fitness Marketing, whose Canadian Sport Canadien campaign the educational kit forms a part of.

The book that comes with the kit was written by Randy Starkman, a Toronto Star sports reporter and author of the Eric Lindros biography, Fire on Ice.

As a supplement to the book there is a wall chart, schedules of Olympic events and suggested collateral activities for teachers. As well, the book examines each sport featured at the Lillehammer Games.
