Spectrum Public Relations of Vancouver locked its doors for the final time on Feb. 3.

The firm, a unit of Omnicom Group, which also owns Canada’s largest ad agency, McKim Baker Lovick/BBDO, had employed five full-time staff members.

Nancy Spooner, Spectrum’s former managing director, says she and her co-workers decided to close the shop for ‘personal reasons.’

Spooner says she left to spend more time with her two young children and work part-time, either freelance or in the hire of another firm.

She says no one remaining in the office was in a position to take over as head of the firm, adding two other former senior consultants will continue in the business, also pursuing work on a part-time basis.

Spectrum’s accounts had included Toyo Tires, Chevron Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society.
