Novotel Worldwide is betting an increased emphasis on customer service will lead to increased bookings in its global chain of 280 hotels.

On Feb. 16, the company launched two customer service initiatives:

- a decentralization of authority in each property, empowering employees to make decisions on their own when it comes to the satisfaction of guests.

- the launch of a toll-free reservation number for North America. The number can be used to make reservations at any of the chain’s properties.

As well, Novotel, which has nine hotels in North America, including six in Canada, also unveiled a corporate logo featuring a sienna brown crescent set in a solid blue rectangle.
