General manager Pellegrini departs Benetton

Clients:

Toronto-based Agenco, which holds the Canadian licence for the Benetton chain of retail stores in Canada, has dismissed its general manager of nine years, Stefano Pellegrini.

No reason has been given for the firing, which occurred late last month.

Pellegrini has since returned to his native Italy.

Agenco has yet to name a replacement.

– Labatt Breweries of Canada has named Thane Pressman as president of Labatt Ontario Breweries.

Most recently, Pressman was president and chief executive officer of Crestar Food Products, which John Labatt sold to H. J. Heinz in 1991.

Pressman began his career in Procter & Gamble Food Products division, and went on to serve stints with Alberto-Culver and Sara Lee.

– Canadian National Railways has appointed Sylvie Godin as vice-president, public affairs and advertising.

Godin was previously the communications director and press attache for former Quebec premier Robert Bourassa.

– The Royal Canadian Golf Association appointed Paul Dulmage as director of communications, effective March 1.

Dulmage, a former journalist, editor and public relations executive, will be responsible for the communications programs behind the Bell Canadian Open and other rcga tournaments and special events.

As well, he will be responsible for Golf Canada, a new magazine to be produced by the rcga.

Dulmage, who will be located at the Glen Abbey Golf Course in Oakville, Ont., replaces John Gordon, who resigned in December to become executive director of the Ontario Gold Association, based in Newmarket, Ont.

– The new director of marketing for Toronto-based Welcome Wagon is Ann Livesey.

Livesey assumed the post Jan. 1. Her duties include overseeing Welcome Wagon’s couponing and sampling program.

Welcome Wagon provides personal greetings and promotional service to half a million households annually.

– Cosmetics marketer Herdt & Charton has named Yvon Lafreniere as its new president.

Lafreniere, a 24-year company employee, most recently as senior vice-president, took over from Herdt & Charton founder Jean Charton on Jan. 1. Charton retains his position as chairman of the board.

Copeland Communications of Victoria, b.c. recently added a new name to its creative roster.

Caroll Taiji, former creative director of her own communications and design firm, has signed on as associate creative director.

– Helene Bouchard, former account executive at Vasco Design of Montreal, has been signed to head up the new Busskamp & Kelly Design division of Busskamp & Kelly, Montreal.

The design division will handle production of annual reports and corporate brochures, as well as corporate image development and design.
