McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada has launched Happy Meals, meals for children, in Canada with a tv campaign, but has also added magazine support in the Ontario market.
Happy Meals are all-inclusive smaller-portion meals that are lower-priced than the adult fare.
Their appeal to children is that they are packaged in special bags containing a different small toy every month.
A double-page spread and tipped-in insert promote the value message to mothers, and fun to children in Ontario editions of April’s Chatelaine, Today’s Parent and Modern Woman.
The insert is a ballot to enter a sweepstakes, with the grand prize being a family trip for four to Club Med in the Dominican Republic.
The promotion and advertising comes from Vickers & Benson Advertising and Genesis Media, both of Toronto.
