More than three-quarters (76%) of Chinese-Canadians surveyed in Toronto held a regular credit card;

nearly one-quarter (23%) held a premium or gold card.

Two-fifths (42%) of Chinese-Canadians own a home without

a mortgage. This is higher than the figure reported by the

average Canadian household (32%.)

Six in 10 Chinese-Canadians in Toronto agreed that they can do

most of their shopping at Chinese malls or plazas.

More than 40% of Chinese-Canadian respondents in Toronto believe it

will be a good time for them to start a business in the next two years.

Nearly three-quarters of Chinese-Canadians reported they like to

try things they have never done or used before.

Two-thirds agreed they like to be served by Chinese-speaking people.

Of Chinese-Canadian households in Toronto…

- more than nine in 10 own a vcr;

- 72% own a stereo system;

- nearly two-thirds own a compact disc player;

- one-third own a karaoke unit;

- 38% own a laser disc player;

- three in 10 own a portable cellular phone.

During the two years previous to the study, 40% of respondents

reported travelling overseas, and a similar proportion

expressed interest in air travel in the next 12 months.

Despite the popularity of air travel among Chinese consumers,

61% did not belong to any frequent flyer programs.
