On the move: Clients

The former director of international sales for cbc has joined The Discovery Channel as vice-president of marketing.

The first task for Meg Pinto in her new job will be to create a marketing plan to launch the network in January 1995.

Pinto’s responsibilities include management, planning, administration and control of marketing programs to achieve network marketing and revenue objectives.

The Discovery Channel is a division of Labatt Communications. The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission licensed the specialty service earlier this summer as one of 10 new tv options.

While working for the cbc, Pinto was responsible for implementing sales promotion and marketing campaigns for international and domestic tv and non-broadcast markets for the corporation’s image and products.

Pinto also worked as manager of cbc’s network tv sales. Before that, she was a media manager and buyer.

Joining Pinto at Toronto-based Discovery Channel is Ken Murphy.

Murphy has taken over as vice-president of production and administration.

Murphy’s immediate job is to prepare The Discovery Channel for next January. Most recently, Murphy was the director of technical operations for Labatt Communications.
