PAC-EX gets new venue

The Packaging Association of Canada is moving PAC-EX, Canada’s National Packaging Trade Show, to the International Centre in Mississauga, Ont., starting in 1995.

pac-ex, which is 44 years old, has been staged frequently at Exhibition Place, on the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, since 1951.

But, show organizers decided to move to a new venue for two main reasons.

First, a new u.s. exhibition being put on by the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute, pack expo west, will take place in Las Vegas Oct. 9-12, 1995.

Since pac-ex usually takes place in late September or early October, it was felt the schedules of the two shows would be in conflict.

PAC-EX ’95 will take place earlier in September, on the 12th to the 14th of the month.

The second reason for the shift of venue is that the proposed construction of a new cne exhibition space, the National Trade Centre, which would replace the aging Exhibition Place, had left the Packaging Association uncertain about when and where its annual show would be held in 1995.

pac-ex says its exhibitors have indicated satisfaction with the move, citing, among the advantages, the International Centre’s proximity to the Toronto-Lester B. Pearson International Airport.
