Toronto-based Canadian Controlled Media Communications will begin rolling its Campus Caravan program onto school campuses this month.

Campus Caravan, which is in its second year, is a travelling event marketing program that stops at 40 college and university campuses across the country.

Day-long events are staged at the campuses, during which sponsoring companies demonstrate their products and distribute samples.

Nine companies, including title sponsor 3DO, have signed on for the fall leg of the program, which begins in Ontario and heads east to the Atlantic Coast.

Panasonic, Citibank, Paramount Pictures and mca are among the other sponsors involved.

Harvey Wolf, publisher of ccmc’s Campus Canada magazine, which put the program together, says Campus Caravan is an effective way for advertisers to reach ‘up to 500,000 student consumers.’

Wolf says ‘students don’t have traditional tv viewing habits, so it can be very hard to reach them.’

In the spring, the caravan will travel west from Ontario across the Prairies to b.c. PA
