David Butler, chairman of Marshall Fenn, the ad agency and marketing firm in Toronto, has been appointed an ambassador for Newfoundland.

Butler, a native of Newfoundland, says the appointment is part of the province’s economic recovery plan intended to identify Newfoundlanders in a position to help attract business to the province.

- New business for Bensimon/Byrne of Toronto has resulted in the addition of three staff members.

Bill Parker, writer, joins the agency from SMW Advertising where he worked on Lexus, Merrell Dow, Nikon and ctv. During his 10 years in the business, Parker has also worked at Young & Rubicam and Cossette Communication-Marketing.

Brad Wood, art director, was most recently at Chiat/Day, Toronto, working on Nissan, Canadian Airlines International and Metro Toronto Zoo accounts.

Before that, the Vancouver native was with Hal Riney, San Francisco, and Borders Perrin Norrander of Portland, Ore.

ew account supervisor Bruce Payne, previously with Ambrose Carr Linton Kelly, has managed accounts such as Acura, The Sports Network and The Everfresh Juice Company. Payne started his career as a buyer and planner at Media Buying Services.

Bensimon/Byrne was established this past January with the broadcast account for the T. Eaton Co. Since then, it has picked up W.K. Buckley, Tilden car rental and Showcase Television.
