Dianne Cullen steps down from her post of senior vice-president, general manager client services at SMW Advertising at the end of the month to take some time off.

Cullen joined the agency five years ago from Cape Town, South Africa, where she was general manager of the Lintas agency.

Rob Lawrie, SMW president, says Cullen will be replaced from outside the agency, but adds the job position and title may not be the same.

- Serge Rancourt has been promoted to executive vice-president, managing director of Young & Rubicam, Toronto from senior vice-president, managing partner.

That post has been covered by Bill Power, y&r president and chief executive officer, since the beginning of the year when Nancy Birnbaum became account managing director for the worldwide Kodak account.

Rancourt joined y&r in 1987 to manage the Ford account and head the Ford Mercury Dealers Association business.

Before y&r, he spent five years at Vickers & Benson Advertising, and two years with MacLaren in Montreal and Toronto. He started his agency career with Allard in Montreal after working on the client side in the petrochemical and retail sectors.

Also at y&r, Gord McLean has been promoted to senior vice-president, director of account services.

McLean has been with y&r for five years, managing accounts that include Whitehall-Robins and Colgate-Palmolive.

Geoff Arnoldi resigned his post of senior vice-president, director account management at y&r in Toronto in mid-October and will be joining bbdo in Toronto in early November.

- In Calgary, Wendy Anderson has joined The Agency Group as senior account manager.

Anderson has spent 14 years in account management with Calgary agencies Baker Lovick, Scali McCabe Sloves, and, most recently, Young & Rubicam.
