A trio of Ontario-based companies serving the printing industry has formed a strategic alliance and begun marketing their combined services as the most environmentally responsible on the market.

Topper Linen Supply is a Toronto laundry service that specializes in cleaning printing wipers, which are the small towels printers use to wipe up ink and solvent spills.

Canadian Fine Color, also of Toronto, makes and markets arts and graphics supplies.

Consultancy

The third firm, Printing Pollution Control International, of Malton, Ont., is a consultancy that helps printers choose on-site ink removal systems.

George Politis, national marketing manager for Topper, says that while environmental concerns might have begun fading from the public consciousness, they are still top-of-mind for printers.

Politis says printers realize their industry damages the environment and are eager to improve their performance.

He says the alliance offers a package of products and services printers can use with the assurance the danger they pose to the environmental is minimized.

The package is being marketed under the heading of clean, which stands for: co-ordinated, logistical, environmental action now.

As part of the partnership agreement, each of the three companies has charged its sales force with promoting the products and services of its partner companies at the same time it is out selling its own.

Politis says the companies will meet in November to establish a budget for a joint ad campaign targetting printers.

He says they will also discuss hiring an agency to handle the advertising and design a logo for clean.
