The Canadian Home Shopping Network recently added some of the best known brand names in the world to its lineup.

Over the last four months, chsn has signed such new vendors as ibm, Sanyo, Philips Electronics and Sega-Genesis.

Ed du Domaine, president and chief operating officer of chsn, says the brand name companies are calling on the network.

Du Domaine says they want alternative sources of distribution and the chance to reach the consumer directly.

As well as the branded goods, chsn has also introduced a themed program schedule so customers can watch for items they might be interested in.

chsn, a division of Rogers Broadcasting, broadcasts 24 hours a day on cable to 5.3 million households nationwide.

The new vendor agreements presaged the findings of a new survey just released by chsn.

It reports more than nine out of 10 Canadians who shop from home are happy with the service they get, compared with the nearly one in five Canadians dissatisfied with service in retail stores.

It says one-third of Canadians say they shopped from home in the past year. DC
