Bell Canada and Toronto’s George Brown College have entered into a partnership to offer a three-year certificate program to teach people how to use long-distance video conferencing technology for educational applications.

According to John Rankin, president of George Brown, the program ‘should accommodate hundreds of students per year,’ but, initially, many spaces will be reserved for Bell and George Brown employees.

Some courses can be taken singly.

The Bell Centre for Distance Education is part of the Beacon initiative created by the Stentor Alliance of long-distance telephone companies working co-operatively to develop the information highway in Canada.
