Universal Gateway, a Mississauga, Ont.-based Internet provider has drastically slashed its price for unlimited basic-access from $35 per month to $9.95, provided customers pay in quarterly installments.

The service, which offers e-mail, news services, Gopher and Telnet capabilities, and text-based access to the World Wide Web, may suggest a price-lowering trend in the highly competitive market, which has seen dozens of suppliers enter the fray in recent months offering various services and price schemes.
