Specialty advertising ranks third in total revenue in Canada, and its association has just had a name change to reflect both that maturity and the scope of its potential membership.

The Specialty Advertising Products Association of Canada has been changed to the Promotional Products Association of Canada.

The change was ratified in February at the association’s annual general meeting in Vancouver.

At the agm, Susan Heslop of Executayne Marketing in Oakville, Ont. was elected president. Kurt Reckziegel was recently appointed executive director of the Montreal-based association.

Heslop says there is ‘tremendous’ growth potential in the industry and sales of $1 billion a year by 1998 is not unrealistic.

According to association-supplied figures, the specialty advertising industry in Canada had sales worth more than $800 million in 1993, the most recent year for which figures are available. DC
