For the Record: Due North gets media for Columbia units

Sony Entertainment has moved broadcast media planning and buying for Columbia TriStar Films of Canada and Columbia Home Video to Due North Communications from McCann-Erickson Advertising, Toronto, its agency of five years.

There is no creative element to the assignment.

Parent company Sony of Canada spent $18.5 million in 1993, according to Nielsen Marketing Research.

The account will be handled by Virginia Dymott, former McCann media director, now a consultant working with Due North.

Newspaper advertising is managed by Cineplex Odeon.
