Alain Cloutier has taken over as vice-president general manager of Promo Marketing, Montreal.

Cloutier has held general manager and account director positions with other Montreal promotional marketing firms and was also previously with Carling O’Keefe.

Cloutier replaces agency principals Rene Guimond, now with bcp, and Daniel Tardiff, who left late last year.

Haris LaRoche has joined the firm as account director, strategic planning and consumer loyalty programs. LaRoche comes from a year as marketing director for Club Biz after five years with Provigo.

- Don Veinish has signed on as president of Lanyon Phillips Brink of Vancouver.

Veinish was most recently vice-president, associate general manager at J. Walter Thompson, which closes at the end of the month.

He moved to JWT Vancouver two and a half years ago as creative director. He had previously been creative group head of Cossette Communication-Marketing, of Montreal, and has held senior creative positions with various other Montreal and Toronto agencies.

Veinish replaces Peter Lanyon, who left last August to become president of MacLaren Lintas in Toronto. Lanyon resigned from MacLaren less than three months later and has since been working on his own.

- Neil McOstrich has joined bbdo in Toronto as senior vice-president, group creative director and will head up the Chrysler Canada group.

McOstrich, a copywriter, comes from MacLaren Lintas, where he has been senior vice-president, creative head. He was with Scali McCabe Sloves before that.

- Anne McConachie has joined Genesis Media as direct response media director to head the dr unit at the agency.

McConachie comes from Unitel Communications where she was advertising manager responsible for direct response after stints at DDB Needham, Vickers &Benson Advertising, Ted Bates and bcp in Montreal.

Patrick Patterson, previously group media director on ibm and kfc at Ogilvy & Mather, has moved to Genesis as associate media director on Bank of Montreal and Nesbitt Burns.

- Greg Cronk has returned from Australia and has moved to Target Marketing & Communications of St. John’s, Nfld. as vice-president, director of client services.

Cronk, a 20-year veteran of the business, spent the past three years in Sydney, Australia as director of client services at Bateman Courts & Bruce Advertising after leaving his vice-president account director post at J. Walter Thompson, Toronto.

- Alan Russell, senior writer, and Mark Mizgala, senior art director, have been promoted to associate creative director positions at Palmer Jarvis, Vancouver.

Jan Trudel has been moved up to senior art director in recognition of her work on Richmond Savings and Lotus Award-winning campaigns for Richmond Savings, B.C. Farmed Salmon and A.L.S. Awareness.
