David Deacon, vice-chairman and chief financial officer of Lowe SMS, retired from full-time employment in the agency business in February.

Deacon, who wants to spend more time performing with his band, David Deacon and the Word, continues at Lowe SMS two days a week on a contract basis for the next year.

Deacon opened Deacon Day Advertising in 1987 in Toronto.

The Lowe Group of the u.k., part of the Interpublic Group of Companies, later bought 49% of the agency.

Deacon Day was merged with Scali McCabe Sloves at the end of 1993 after Lowe bought New York-based Scali McCabe Sloves Group.
