An organization which fights violence against women is calling for submissions for the design of its 1996-97 poster.
The White Ribbon Campaign, formed shortly after the December 1989 massacre of 14 women at the Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal, is a group of men working to end men’s violence against women.
The organization is holding a contest for individuals and corporations to design a poster calling for support from men and boys across the country.
Besides the White Ribbon logo and slogan ‘Men Working to End Violence Against Women,’ the poster will bear the name of the person or company responsible for the design.
The winning poster will be used for both this and next year’s White Ribbon Week campaigns.
The organization expects to hold exhibitions featuring the finalists’ entries in city halls and civic building in the weeks leading up to and following the official day, Nov. 29.
Brian Harrod of Harrod & Mirlin Advertising in Toronto is chairman of the judging committee.
