Gary Carr of Ambrose Carr Linton Carroll is leaving his agency of 21 years and striking out on his own.

Carr, who co-founded what is now aclc, told Strategy that he misses the entrepreneurial aspect of a small-size agency and hinted that he may set up shop with one other person, whom he declined to name.

Carr’s work includes ‘The little paper that grew’ and ‘We’ll be there’ campaigns for The Toronto Sun as well as brand positioning and creative for Honda’s Acura division. He says that he expects the clients to stay where they are.

Recent management changes at the agency convinced Carr that it was time to leave. ‘I’m what you might consider the old guard,’ he said.
