– Nortel Networks has consolidated its business with Temerlin McClain of Irving, Tex. Sister agency Bozell Worldwide will provide support in markets such as Canada while Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi will handle the Caribbean and Latin American regions.
– Players Island, a casino in Lake Charles, La., has awarded its account to Marshall Fenn Communications, a Toronto agency that has been winning awards for its Casino Rama campaigns since that gaming facility’s launch in July 1996. A year-long multimedia campaign for Players Island has already launched in Houston and Beaumont, Tex.
– Loto-Québec has divvied up its $18-million budget to three Montreal agencies, effective April 1, 1999. The winners are Bos, Communication bleu blanc rouge and Palm Publicité Marketing, the only incumbent to keep the business following a recent review.
– Subway Restaurants has chosen Optimedia Canada to handle its French-language media buying. Responsibility for English-language media remains with Initiative Media.
– Telus Corp. of Edmonton has awarded its $10-million media buying business to Ogilvy & Mather of Calgary, the agency that also handles the company’s $7.5-million long-distance and consumer marketing assignment. Baron Communications of Calgary had handled the media account for the past two years.
