A message from our new publisher

Hello,

As many of you are sitting back reading this issue of Strategy, you’re probably wondering who is this new publisher and what qualifies her to take on this role for a national marketing magazine?

I’ve worked as associate publisher on Brunico’s international magazine KidScreen, which covers the youth entertainment industry, and it has served me well in understanding your business, as, with most things, it inevitably all boils down to marketing. I’ve been with Strategy for four months now, and I’m enjoying getting to know more about the intricacies of Canadian marketing, and meeting the players – it’s a great feeling being in a position where you can truly learn something new each day.

I’m hoping to hear from you: What you like about us; what you would like to see more of. I’m exploring the issues that are most important to you, and ultimately, how Strategy can play a compelling role in your business decision-making process.

I hope to meet with more with of you over the next few weeks and months, and to forge relationships that will allow Strategy to maintain its role as the ‘go to’ source for marketing insights, trends and news. I look forward to creating new alliances and strengthening old partnerships. We’re just getting started increasing our ongoing industry presence beyond the pages of Strategy – so watch out!

In closing, Strategy is a brand that has been built over the years with a lot of hard work and an overwhelming amount of passion for the product. And the brand would not be where it is today without our outgoing publisher (and my friend) Joanne Nevison. Joanne is moving on but I know she will not be straying too far from the industry, and I’m sure we will still see her at social events. Joanne, from all of us at Brunico, I wish you the best of luck in your new endeavours.

David Todd, Strategy’s associate editor, is also leaving the Brunico fold after five years at the helm of our inimitable special reports. David has been one of the key players in establishing and maintaining Strategy’s trusted position in the marketing community as the ‘deeper read’ publication. He will be missed by his many fans and we wish him the best in this new role as senior writer and editor for Vision TV.

As to who else is stepping in, KidScreen’s special reports editor Duncan Hood will be taking over the role as Strategy’s new special reports editor. Duncan, who covered the advertising and promotion beat for KidScreen as well as being the Brain and Enforcer behind KidScreen’s insightful and innovative special reports will be the perfect replacement. Duncan, welcome aboard and I look forward to working with you once again.

On the news front, Strategy senior writer Peter Vamos has been promoted to the news editor’s post. Congrats to Peter – I know he’s already in relentless pursuit of exclusive story ideas for our up-front section, so get in touch.
