Tom Storey was promoted to EVP, business development and strategy for Canadian Pacific Hotels, the Toronto-based parent company of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Delta Hotels. Storey will head brand development and revenue strategies, including sales, marketing and public relations.

Hubert Wat, former director of marketing for Rogers Video, has joined Kamloops, B.C.-based sporting goods chain Sport Mart Inc., as its VP marketing.

Sun Microsystems of Canada appointed Brad Keates as director of marketing.

Michael Zahra was promoted to GM of Toronto-based Yahoo! Canada. Zahra, who joined the company as head of business development a year ago, will be responsible for strategic planning and business development, marketing, site production, finance and customer service.

Toronto-based Excite Canada has signed three new team players: Robert Jenkyn as its director of sales, Krista Kidai as financial category manager and Sean Miller as national account executive. The trio hails from Media Matrix, Quicken.ca, and Double Click, respectively.

AGENCIES:

Bates Canada, Toronto, has lured associate creative directors Mark Fitzgerald and Kerry Reynolds away from Leo Burnett to become the agency’s VPs and associate creative directors. The duo, which previously worked with Bates’ EVP and CD Rick Davis at MacLaren McCann, will focus on all ‘non-Hyundai’ accounts.

Toronto-based advertising and communications agency Yield Integrated has hired Shelley Ambrose as partner and creative director and Marc Whitehead as partner and senior strategic partner.

Bob Wolowich, a 30-year veteran of the industry has joined 39-year-old Culnane Fattori Associates of Burlington, Ont. as partner, director of strategic planning and will also be working on the creative side.

MacLaren Momentum appointed Lindsay Rennie to account director, planning.

Toronto-based Media Vest Worldwide appointed Marc Gauvreau to the position of manager, tactical planning & investments.

Palmer Jarvis DDB Toronto promoted Jim Herrler from SVP, managing director to EVP, managing director. He will be responsible for strategic development and direction within the shop’s new integrated network model.

DCC Communications, Toronto, announced three promotions: Mark Russell is VP, group account director; Keith McDevitt is also VP, group account director; and Gary Hutchinson is VP of graphic services.

Vickers & Benson Advertising, Toronto, has a new creative team in senior copywriter Trish Kavanagh and senior art director Dawn McCabe. Kavanagh joins the agency from Lowe Roche MacCaulay & Partners, while McCabe worked at Vickers & Benson’s Direct + Interactive.

Kelly Park is Toronto-based Skye Media’s new production account manager. Skye also recently appointed Paul Drohan as director of sales, Andrea Dayco as account executive and Marcia Dayco as production coordinator.

FASHION magazine named Leslie Shtabsky as its sales and marketing director for Western Canada.

Chatelaine magazine has announced several promotions: Ildiko Marshall from director of ad sales to associate publisher; Angela Jones from account supervisor to business development manager; Whitney Grove was hired as account supervisor. Cheryl McCarron joins as Web senior account manager; Scott Atkinson as Web sales and promotion manager; and Rhonda Messieh as Web marketing manager.

Corus Entertainment, Toronto, promoted Susan Ross from GM of Treehouse to VP and GM of Children’s Television, where she will oversee operations of YTV and Treehouse, as well as the launch of new digital channels, including Discovery Kids. Meanwhile, Bryan Ellis is group VP for Corus Television and will be responsible for Country Music Television (CMT), as well as new digital channels Land and Sea, and The Canadian Documentary Channel. Lastly, Brian Bolli, formerly VP of sales and marketing for (CMT) is now the station’s GM.
