Vancouver’s CityXpress.com, which integrates online editorial content with ad and promotional products for media companies, has hired Steve Cissel as director of media sales, where he will be responsible for securing additional media company partners. Cisell hails from PhotoTrust.com in Bellevue, Washington, where he was director of advertising and sponsorships.

Sean C. Shannon is Expedia.ca’s new director of marketing. Before joining the online retail store, Shannon was most recently VP, marketing and customer relations for WorldPreferred.com.

Wendy’s Restaurants of Canada, Mississauga, Ont., announced two promotions recently: Peter Moses as divisional VP for Eastern Canada and Ron Baugh as his counterpart in Western Canada.

Nand Ramchandani has been named director of marketing at Edmonton-based integrated solutions provider Matrikon. Ramchandani was formerly VP of Siemens IT Products and Services group in Singapore.

Toronto service provider InQuent Technologies has hired John Boynton as VP, marketing and business development. Boynton previously served as executive VP at eYak, a Boston, Mass.-based technology start-up company.

Andrew Jackson is the new senior VP marketing at InSystems, a Markham, Ont.-based provider of e-business solutions for the financial services industry. Jackson moves over from MGI Software, where he was VP, Internet imaging and corporate marketing.

Vancouver-based Palmer Jarvis DDB promoted Hugh Ruthven to executive VP, managing director from senior VP. Meanwhile, in its Edmonton office, the shop has named Helene Leggatt, previously VP, managing director, to senior VP, managing director.

Bob Shanks is Toronto-based Roche Macaulay & Partners Advertising’s new president effective May 14. Shanks hails from PJDDB Downtown, where he was senior VP and managing director and spearheaded the launch of the Bud Light, Budweiser and beer.com campaigns. He replaces founder Geoffrey Roche, who fired himself so he could ‘focus on creative’ as the agency’s CD.

Grey Worldwide Toronto has hired James Wilkes and Shelley Weinreb as art directors. Wilkes comes from Communique and Taxi and is known for his Adidas print work, while Weinreb was previously at PJDDB and Bozell and worked on Pine Sol TV.

Ottawa-based McGill Buckley recently hired three new staff members. Catherine Riggins leaves her post as director of worldwide channel marketing at Corel Corporation to join the shop as account director. Franclin Epton makes the move from senior new media designer at NetActive, a spinoff of Nortel Networks, to new media director at McGill Buckley, while Kathryn Shaver, a recent graduate from Algonquin College, signs on as account coordinator.

Caroline Starecky joins Publicis Canada, Montreal, as manager of business development. Starecky has five years experience in the ad business, including account management of Rogers AT&T at Groupaction JWT and Loto-Quebec at Communications Bleu Blanc Rouge. Meanwhile, Martin Merlino was named GM of Publicis Dialog Montreal, after a stint as European account director at Publicis Dialog Paris.

Toronto-based MediaVest Worldwide Canada hired Robert Brown as its new VP, group media director and head of strategic planning. Brown hails from The Media Edge, where he was group media head. Also, Thomas Brennan joins MediaVest as a senior negotiator from Pentacom/OMD where he was a senior buyer on Chrysler Canada.

Toronto agency JAM promoted Mike Giamprini from VP & GM to president. Meanwhile Janet Banks, formerly director of operations, will fill Giamprini’s shoes, while Perry Diavatopoulos is the shop’s new CD. JAM’s client list includes Bridgestone/Firestone Canada, Mott’s and Liptons Canada.

Jason Wren has signed on with Toronto shop Campbell Michener & Lee as art director. In the past, Wren has worked at Enterprise Creative Selling where he worked on Tim Hortons, Discovery Channel and Rogers.

Orchard International, Toronto, will open a new corporate promotions division and has hired Karyn Bigby, an 11-year veteran of the specialty ad industry to set it up. According to the marketing and promotional importing firm, demand from its existing client base spurred on the creation of the department. South of the border, Orchard’s clients include Eckerd Corp., and L’Oreal Group, as well as Shoppers Drug Mart, Avon and La Senza in Canada.

Quebec shop Lacroix-Bleau Communications-Marketing recently welcomed Maryse Côté as account director. Formerly assistant director at Réseau-Sélect, Côté has worked with clients such as McAusland Brewers, Métro-Richelieu, and the Quebec Horse Show.

Bryce Collins has left Orion National Media Sales where he was a senior account executive to join Toronto-based Eller Canada as national account supervisor. Eller’s product line includes signage in and around Toronto’s Dundas Square Redevelopment area and airport advertising in Toronto and Vancouver.

Hawk Communications in Moncton, N.B., recently announced five appointments: Carol Chapman as executive VP, national and international accounts, who was promoted from senior VP; Steven MacKinnon as senior VP, Atlantic Canada Practice; Mike Jenkins, as executive VP and CFO; Susan Jones as president of Hawk Digital; and Ray Hébert, as VP and CD of Hawk Digital.
