Shopper’s Drug Mart/Pharmaprix has replaced David R. Bloom, who had announced his retirement as chairman and CEO. Glenn Murphy, who had a 14-year career with Loblaw Companies and was most recently president and CEO of Chapters’ retail division, will fill his role.

Michael Pearce will leave Dairy Farmers of Ontario July 31 to open a marketing consultancy for the food and beverage industries in Toronto. Pearce is director of product promotion at the DFO.

Sprint Canada recently announced Duncan McEwan as its president and COO and Greg McCamus as president of Enterprise Communications Solutions. McEwan hails from NorthPoint Canada and McCamus was promoted from the post of senior VP, new product development.

Bill McLean has been promoted to the newly created position of VP, client services at Carlson Wagonlit Travel Canada where he will assume responsibility for account management functions as well as business development. He was formerly VP, business development.

BBDO Canada, Toronto, recently named Gerry Frascione its president and CEO, effective August 20. Frascione joins BBDO from The Wolf Group Canada, where he was President and CEO since January 1999. Prior to that he worked at Leo Burnett Canada for 14 years as executive VP, chief client service officer.

Palmer Jarvis DDB has promoted Catherine Frank to SVP, director of client services, brand management group. Frank, who has 15 years agency experience, was previously VP, client services at its Toronto office. As well as overseeing client services, she will be responsible for leading new business development.

Toronto shop Bates Canada has three promotions and a slew of new hires. In promotions: Kathy Gardner, formerly VP, media director is now executive VP, director of media operations; Anne Denommé, director of broadcast buying, and Lynn Mayer, director of media planning, add senior VP to their titles. Hires: Jason Leung, media planner; Jennifer Wilson, media planner; Genie Albrecht, media supervisor; Tania Dominguez, media executive; Margaret Yeung, media associate; Kim Foster, art director; and Jonny Lewin, copywriter.

OMD Canada has promoted Kym Wyatt to media supervisor.

Cundari Integrated Advertising recently announced three new appointments: Jennifer Graham, from marketing firm Maritz Canada, as account supervisor on VenGrowth Investment Fund; David Carey joins as an account supervisor on BMW after a stint as event manager for the Vision Group; and Linda Pelley as senior designer.

Joanna Von Felkerzam has joined MediaVest Worldwide (Canada) as a Research Manager. Previously she was an account executive at Blade Marketing Communications.

Sheila Rivest, formerly GM of IntraMedical Health Services/Sudler & Hennessy Mississauga recently joined Integrated Healthcare Communications, Toronto, as principal.

James Crossland has been promoted to president of National Public Relations, Montreal; he had been EVP.

Hill and Knowlton Canada, Toronto, has named Tobi Swanwick, formerly of Lexicomm Communications, as senior VP and business unit leader.

MECA Medicomm, Montreal, recently hired Sophie Allard as account supervisor and Marissa Lukaitis as account coordinator. They hail from Marketing and Planning Systems, Boston, and Habitat for Humanity Quebec, respectively.

Youth Culture Inc., Toronto-based publishers of Canada’s teen magazines Fuel and Verve has appointed Rolf Dinsdale as publisher of Fuel, which is geared to young males. Rolf’s most recent position was advertising director at Shift magazine.

Rose Mangone has left Astral Television Networks to restart her consultancy and manage her firm, Rose Mangone Communications, which will concentrate on filmed entertainment publicity and corporate communications.

Jenny Norush has been appointed to the newly created position of director, promotion and advertising for Citytv.

Greater Vancouver Radio Group (Rogers Broadcasting) has announced Sharon Sproule as director of research. Prior to joining Rogers Media, Sproule was with BBM Vancouver as an account executive for the television and radio divisions. Meanwhile, Keith Pelletier has been named director of marketing and business development for News 1130 Radio.

Lise Ravary, former editor of Elle Quebec and Elle Canada has been named publisher of Châtelaine.

Previously with CTV, Elizabeth Duffy-MacLean has been named group VP, regulatory affairs and policy strategy at Bell Globemedia, which owns various media brands, including CTV, Sympatico-Lycos and the Globe and Mail.
