In the wake of Ammirati Puris’s demise, Toronto’s Zig has hired five ex-employees of the now defunct agency plus one former Cossetter to work on its recently snagged Unilever account. Joining Zig as a group account director is Sandra Querin. Prior to Ammirati, she was a media planning supervisor at Bates Canada. Karlia Campbell joins as a planner and Charlie Clark signs on as account coordinator. Amanda Loughran joins as broadcast producer, and Debra Prenger, a former art director at Ammirati, will now be working with Patrick Doyle, senior writer, recently hired from Cossette Toronto.

J. Walter Thompson and Enterprise Creative Selling plan to establish a new advertising agency in Montreal named Enterprise/J. Walter Thompson come September. The new agency has just announced its management team. André Lachance will become GM. A 20-year advertising and marketing professional, he has served at JWT Montreal and JWT Mexico. Etienne Coté will become creative director working in partnership with Francois Larocque, senior art director. The award-winning team has each worked at BBDO Montreal.

Amy Ballis has joined MediaVest Worldwide in Toronto as group media director, and AOR director of the Kraft account. Ballis arrived from the Chicago office of sister agency BCOM3.

Elizabeth Crothers has joined the team at MacLaren McCann Interactive as group account director in Toronto. Crothers brings over 14 years of experience to the job, most recently as an account director at Modem Media in Toronto since 1999.

Young and Rubicam West in Calgary has promoted Dawn Negus to account executive.

Enterprise Creative Selling has hired Dominique Vibien as business director, Quebec market in its Toronto office. Vibien returns to Enterprise after spending the last 18 months at Bates as an account director

Publicis Group has promoted Tony Ciccia to brand director in Toronto. He joined Publicis from Young & Rubicam where he spent six years working on Ford Motor Company of Canada and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Starcom Worldwide has promoted four staff members. Jodi Graham has been named broadcast buyer in the Buena Vista group, Rishma Dewsi has been promoted to broadcast investment manager and Amy Grove and Chnida Walsh have moved to junior buyer from assistant.

Grey Worldwide has brought on five new creatives. Michael Clowater joins as copywriter; his past experience includes a year at BLD Belgium and a stint at BBDO Toronto. A former Bensimon Byrne D’Arcy employee, Cheryl Kaplan joins Grey as art director. She will team with Jordan Schmid who comes to Grey as copywriter from Gee Jeffery & Partners. Also, two recent post-secondary grads have been hired. Matt Bielby joins as copywriter teaming with art director Sima Moussavizadeh.


Citytv Vancouver has appointed Steve Scarrow to the position of promotion director. Scarrow comes to the station from Corus Radio, where he was the director of marketing for Vancouver stations CKNW, Rock 101, 99.3 The Fox, and Mojo AM 730. He also worked previously as the creative director for Vancouver agency GeneratorIdeaworks.

Jean Rodrigue has joined TQS New Media as director of sales. Rodrigue was previously senior account executive at 24/7 Media, Sympatico and Communications Voir.

Public Relations

Bernadette Giet has joined McDonnell Haynes as account executive in Toronto. Giet has been honing her marketing and public relations skills with Sprint PCS, Cendant Corporation, Nortel Networks, and the United Way.

Camille Bacchus has joined Hill and Knowlton Canada as director of the medical knowledge group in Toronto. Before joining, she operated Bacchus Medical Communication, her own medical education consulting firm.
