Randy Ambrosie has joined Toronto-based AFG Funds as SVP, sales and marketing, a newly formed position. Recently, Ambrosie worked with Toronto-based HSBC Securities. In his new post, he will oversee all sales and marketing functions.

Toronto-based Tennis Canada has appointed Michael S. Downey as president and CEO. He replaces Bob Moffatt, who held the post for 15 years. Most recently, Downey was president of Molson’s Ontario-Western Canada Region. He was VP, sales and marketing for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment from 1996 to 1999. His new position is effective May 25.

Patrick Forsythe has joined Toronto-based ALTANA Pharma as VP, marketing and business development. Previously, he worked with pharmaceutical companies Hoffman-La Roche and Upjohn Pharmaceuticals.

Bill Sexsmith is moving from his job of VP, sales at the Calgary office of Safeway to take on the role of VP marketing initiatives at Safeway’s head office in Pleasanton, Calif.

The Brick Warehouse Corporation LP has appointed Joseph Wuest as director of advertising and e-commerce. He has been with the Brick for 11 years.

Yves Gougoux, chairman of the board and CEO of Publicis Canada has been named to the International Executive Committee of Publicis Worldwide (COMEX).

Taxi has named Daniel Rabinowicz president of Taxi Montreal. Rabinowicz was formerly president of Cossette Montreal and co-president of Cossette Toronto.

Ian MacKellar and Chris Harrison have joined MacLaren McCann in Toronto as VP, group CDs on the General Motors and Microsoft accounts. Previously, MacKellar was VP, group CD at BBDO and Harrison was VP, associate CD at BBDO. Meanwhile, Lezlie Grossman has joined the agency as SVP, brand director and Scott Brubacher signs on as VP, director of public relations.

In London, Ont., steelecommunications has appointed Brian Arnold to the newly created position of CD. Arnold has worked for head office marketing at Canada Trust and World Vintners.

Theresa Treutler has joined Doner Canada as SVP, corporate media director in Toronto. Treutler was formerly at MediaVest as SVP, P&G broadcast investment director.

Kyle Hosick has been named president and editorial director of BiZBashT.O., a resource directory for event planners. The company will launch the first issue of its companion magazine, The BIZbashT.O. Event Style Reporter and a comprehensive Web site, www.bizbash.com/toronto, this summer.
