If the hockey thing doesn’t work out, there’s always soccer. Canada has an opportunity to represent on another world stage, so we’re getting the word out now, scouting for talent to field a team for the Soccer World Cup. Ok, so it’s not the World Cup that’s being held in South Africa this summer. It’s better. It’s the Cannes Lions Beach Soccer World Cup that’s being organized and sponsored by Yahoo’s Eurosport.
We want all of you eager Canadian ad biz footballers out there who will be in Cannes this June to join up, so Canada can field a team of five to vie for victory against a minimum of 15 other squads made up of delegates from around the world. The two-day event, which takes place on Tuesday June 22 and Wednesday June 23, will be played on the Macé Plage, which is a hop, skip and a jump away from the Palais des Festivals. The winning side will be awarded their trophy at the Press, Design and Cyber Lions Awards ceremony the evening of the 23rd. Those interested in representing their country in this clash of advertising titans can contact strategy’s executive editor Mary Maddever (mmaddever@brunico.com).
