DoorDash introduces SafeChat+
DoorDash launched a new feature this week that’s designed to use AI to make the app safer by combating chat abuse and harassment.
SafeChat+ uses artificial intelligence to review in-app conversations to detect and prevent verbal abuse and harassment. If the feature detects an inappropriate or abusive conversation between a consumer and Dasher, the Dasher is given the option to cancel the order without impacting their rating. If the order is already complete, SafeChat+ will automatically end any further chat to prevent the situation from escalating.
On the other hand, if a Dasher uses inappropriate or abusive language with a customer during delivery, the customer can reach out to DoorDash to report the incident and receive assistance.
The company’s Trust & Safety team will investigate all incidents identified by the tool and enforce the app’s policies prohibiting verbal abuse and harassment, the company says.
SafeChat+ was rolled out to all in-app chats between consumers and Dashers this week, and the company says it’s designed to review more than 1,400 messages per minute, covering dozens of languages including English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Mandarin. DoorDash adds that the feature isn’t set up to access any personal user information.
SafeChat was a feature initially introduced by DoorDash in 2022 to detect inappropriate or offensive language in messages on its platform, alongside other safety features like SafeDash Check-In and Real-Time Safety Alerts.
