On the Move: Agencies

– John Kewley is back at Young & Rubicam of Toronto, this time as vice-president, group creative director.

Kewley, a copywriter by trade, has been working as a freelancer with both clients and agencies since leaving McCann Toronto in 1994 after an 18-month term.

Kewley began his career with MacLaren Lintas. He later spent three years with y&r as senior writer before moving to J. Walter Thompson where he was co-creative director for three years on accounts such as Pepsi-Cola.

– The team of David Popescu, art director, and Denise Rossetto, copywriter, is the newest to join Leo Burnett Toronto.

Although they worked together in the past, Popescu was most recently at Taxi in Toronto while Rossetto comes from Guerrilla TV.

Leo Burnett has also been hiring staff on the account side.

Laurie Sloan has moved to the agency as senior vice-president, client service director and a member of the management committee.

Sloan comes from fcb where she was vice-president, group account director. Before that, she spent 11 years at J. Walter Thompson.

– Mona Goldstein has been named president of Toronto-based Wunderman Cato Johnson after 20 years with the direct marketing firm.

Goldstein joined Wunderman as media secretary and was promoted to a management position within six weeks. She was appointed managing director in 1982.

– Anthony DiBiase has been promoted to vice-president, creative for Firstcom Marketing of Toronto. DiBiase joined Firstcom as creative director in 1988.

– Heather Chambers has been named vice-president, associate creative director of Young & Rubicam, Toronto. Chambers will partner with Ken Boyd, vice-president, group creative director, on a variety of accounts, including Xerox, Colgate-Palmolive, Digital and Whitehall-Robins.

Prior to Young & Rubicam, Chambers was associate creative director at Bozell Palmer Bonner.

– Jacques Cantin has been promoted to creative director of Hewson Bridge and Smith of Ottawa.

Cantin, previously senior art director, has been with hbs since 1984.

– Michael Carpentier, most recently director of marketing and advertising for Guess Jeans, has joined Sandy Kedey & Associates of Toronto as head of client services and strategic planning.

Carpentier was previously partner in two Montreal-based agencies, Anagram Communications and Art & Strategy.
