– Thrifty Rent-A-Car System has snatched up Yves Boyer, former executive vice-president of Nissan Canada to be its new Canadian president and ceo, a position that also puts him on the Thrifty World Wide Executive management team.

– Pharmacia & Upjohn has announced the appointment of Paul Richardson as senior vice-president of sales and marketing. Richardson was previously vice-president of marketing and sales for Upjohn Canada.

Reporting to Richardson are Carl Worrell, appointed vice-president of retail sales and marketing, and Rob Darlington, vice-president of hospital sales and marketing.

– At Novell Canada, Michael O’Beirne, formerly director of marketing, has been appointed to the new position of national marketing manager. Thomas Rhoton will move from the director of sales position to the director of marketing position.

– David S. Ferguson has assumed the position of president and chief executive officer of Wal-Mart Canada, filling the position left vacant by Bruce West, whose decision to leave the company was announced last week. Ferguson comes to the job from an executive position at Wal-Mart in the u.s.
