Black & Decker Canada is introducing a universal battery system called VersaPak to keep a strong current running through its successful power tools division.
The 3.6-volt rechargable VersaPak batteries can be used alone or together, depending on power demands.
A family of products has been developed around the VersaPak system including three cordless drills, a cordless screwdriver and a flashlight.
The new line of products not only creates a category of universal battery-related products, but will also allow Black & Decker to sell new versions of established and successful products to the same old customers.
b&d would not comment specifically on what products may be launched next, but VersaPak versions of household products such as the Dustbuster are expected soon, as are a number of outdoor products. AB
