Letters: Anti-comma conspiracy

Your Brian Harrod tribute section (Sept. 5) featured ad after comma-less ad (‘Thank you Brian,’ ‘Thanks Brian,’ ‘We’re glad we found you Brian’), and one headline that managed to get it right (‘Thanks, Brian, for being Mr. Christie.’

Novelist John Irving recently told The Toronto Star he believes typesetters just don’t like him using semi-colons, and try to change them behind his back.

I think there’s a similar conspiracy afoot of copywriters against commas.
