SmithBooks introduces loyalty program

Another nationally known retailer has joined the customer loyalty fold.

SmithBooks has introduced Avid Reader, a customer reward and savings program for those who cannot get enough of the printed word.

Lawrence Stevenson, president and chief executive officer of SmithBooks, says the objective of Avid Reader is to reinforce customer loyalty and increase communication between company and customer.

The Avid Reader scheme, for a $10 annual membership fee, offers a 10% discount on all books – including those on sale – bought at SmithBooks stores; redeemable points for every dollar spent on books; special offers, and exclusive invitations to in-store events.

The loyalty program was unveiled Aug. 29 at all SmithBooks stores in nine provinces.

In Quebec, the Avid Reader card will be honored, but membership cannot be bought in that province.

SmithBooks developed the Avid Reader program with Moore Response Marketing Services.

It uses database management software exclusively designed for SmithBooks.
