The odds of getting a hole-in-one in golf are pretty staggering on their own.
They rise exponentially when you consider accomplishing the feat in a tournament and on a hole where you could win a brand new car.
Doug Coombs, from Wilson Sports, came about as close as anyone can to beating those odds.
Playing in the second annual industry tournament hosted by BEN The Beer Entertainment Network, Coombs drove his first ball on the par three into the water.
On his next shot, he sank a hole-in-one. Had he made the hole-in-one on his first shot, he’d have come away with a Chrysler Jeep YJ.
His consolation was a 28-inch color television set.
Coombs was among 144 advertising, marketing and media people who attended the tournament at Lionhead Golf and Country Club north of Toronto.
