Myers, Bruce writing book

Marty Myers and Dennis Bruce hope the book on advertising they are co-authoring will begin shipping out to bookstores before the end of the year.

Myers says a Canadian publisher has shown interest in handling the as-yet-untitled work in Canada, and he is looking to sign a separate deal with an international publisher to handle markets abroad.

Myers and Bruce began working on the project in December, the same month they resigned from the Toronto agency they helped found in 1984, Miller Myers Bruce DallaCosta.

Myers, who has penned several published novels, says he would like to see the book published as a large-format paperback with color photos.

Among the topics to be dealt with in separate chapters are why people buy things, the creative process, successful campaigns, account planning and the agency of the future.

The book will also contain interviews conducted by art director Bruce with well-known industry professionals.

Myers says later this year he and Bruce will announce the formation of a new three-person agency comprising a writer, art director and account planner.
