The Vancouver International Film Festival celebrates its 12th anniversary with the most visible and glamorous event in its history from Oct. 1-17.
The 1992 festival saw the hosting of 389 screenings of 250 films at seven theatres setting a new attendance record of more than 90,000.
Sponsorship was rated as the best by sponsors, panelists and delegates, and this year’s growing list of corporate sponsors gives an unprecedented level of support enabling the festival to attract the best in world film to Vancouver for 1993.
There are many areas of the viff and Trade Forum that can be used to profile a company, its products and services.
These include owning a premiere, a gala, a series of films, a reception, an event at the Trade Forum, or an ad in the souvenir program guide.
Cost of sponsorship varies accordingly, and usually involves a combination of cash and contra.
Benefits can include company logo and official sponsor status in 25,000 program guides, in 270,000 copies of the 16-page supplementary program and in 250,000 full, double-page mini-programs published in The Vancouver Sun, credits on radio spots and Gold Card Passes and invitations to galas and special events.

Centre stage
Canada’s corporate community has responded significantly to the numerous sponsorship opportunities at the new North York Performing Arts Centre in Toronto.
Both the Main Stage Theatre, with the production of the landmark musical Show Boat, which premiers Oct. 5 and The Recital Hall with the presentation of 22 classical concert series from November to June 1994 provide companies with the chance to become involved in the launch of this new theatre complex of international significance.
Directed by acclaimed Broadway director Hal Prince, and featuring a cast of more than 65 performers, Show Boat is sure to attract international media attention.
American Express and Midland Walwyn have signed on as corporate sponsors, and joining them as media sponsors are cfrb radio, The Toronto Star and cfto-tv.
In its augural season, The Recital Hall will present 97 concerts and feature pre-eminent talent of the international concert stage such as Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Kathleen Battle, Issac Stern and James Galway.
Royal Bank is title sponsor of the four ‘Royal Bank Great Artists’ series and British Airways is title sponsor of two of the subscription series: ‘British Airways Winners Circle’ and ‘British Airways Tafelmusik Series.’
Other series sponsors include Rogers Communications, Upper Canada Brewing, Cartier Wines and Beverages, The Parking Authority of North York and Federal Express.
Single concert sponsors include Air New Zealand, Intercon Security, First Marathon Securities, Cinram and Imperial Coffee Services.
Media sponsors are The Globe and Mail, Classical 96 FM radio and cfmt-tv (Channel 47.)
Marketing and promotional benefits are specially designed to meet the needs of sponsors.
Benefits include logo credit in all print, radio and television spots, theatre tickets, playbill acknowledgement, signage at the theatre and use of the centre’s reception spaces for entertaining clients and promotions.
