Lakeport to speak its piece

Lakeport Brewery is finally going to get its day in a Quebec court house.

On Sept. 20, Lakeport is scheduled to appear before La Regie des alcools et des jeux for the purpose of persuading Quebec authorities that it should be allowed to distribute its beer in the province.

La Regie is responsible for awarding beer distribution licences to brewers located outside the province of Quebec.

Bill Sharpe, president of Hamilton-based Lakeport, says he is pleased the date has been set, but adds he is not holding his breath.

Sharpe notes an earlier court date, set for July 15, was cancelled. PA
