Shaw Media has appointed two new directors to its marketing team. Sherida German has joined the company as senior director, marketing for Global News and Jason Keown as senior director, marketing, Global Entertainment.
Keown arrived at Shaw Media a month ago from Burger King Canada where he was consumer marketing lead. In his new capacity he is overseeing all on-air/off-air/online promotion and publicity for Global primetime, including ET Canada. Before Burger King, Keown was at Rogers where he drove campaigns for a number of products, and prior to that he was agency side where he held senior positions leading advertising and communications.
“Working in marketing for the past 15 years, I recognize the unique power of television,” says Keown. “More importantly, I have always been impressed with the drive and determination of Shaw to position itself as an industry leader, and how that will now have a positive impact on Global.”
German will be responsible for leading all news marketing and community relations strategy for Global National – covering Global stations across the country. She has been with the company since 1998, in that time making significant contributions to most of Shaw’s specialty channels, including negotiating the largest co-marketing initiative in the company’s history with Johnson & Johnson’s Motrin brand through TVtropolis and Wipe Out Canada.
