Indie creative agency Zulu Alpha Kilo has revealed a round of promotions within its executive team, highlighted by Christine McNab taking on its chief operating officer role.
McNab first joined the agency nearly two years ago as its first chief marketing officer. Now, as COO, McNab will be looked to for oversight of the agency’s operations while working to drive efficiency and contribute to the company’s strategic growth. She’ll still maintain leadership of new business activities at the agency, while joining Zulu Alpha Kilo’s executive leadership team.
“Christine has played a key role in our success and growth these past two years. With her skillset and many contributions externally with clients and internally with process, moving into the COO role was a natural evolution,” Zulu Alpha Kilo president and CEO Mike Sutton said in a press release.
Prior to joining Zulu Alpha Kilo, McNab built two decades of experience at independent and network shops. She previously worked as president of indie agency Rain for three years, and worked in senior roles at Publicis, FCB and Grey.
Along with McNab’s promotion, Zulu Alpha Kilo also announced that creative operations director Christina Hill will join the agency’s executive leadership team, expanding her work and operations expertise beyond the creative team and across the agency. As well, the agency has promoted Kelly Flynn as its new marketing and communications director to work with McNab on supporting new business, agency marketing, PR and social media.
Former executive strategy director Sean Bell will now work as executive director, comms planning and technology for Zulu Alpha Kilo, where he’ll form a new group to guide the agency’s efforts to integrate AI tools across all disciplines in the company. Bell will continue to lead Zulumatic, the agency’s media arm, with head of media Alicia Petralia.
“We believe Generative AI will be a net positive for our industry and have already invested in new tools across disciplines at the agency. In some cases, we’ve built our own internal applications to improve how we work and elevate our creative product,” Sutton says about the agency’s AI work. “The mandate for this group is to bring together our existing efforts and set a road map for future investment.”
The agency rounded out its personnel moves with Laura Dubcovsky moving into an executive producer role, and Sylvia Stultz taking on the position of global head of talent attraction.
The moves follow the agency’s recent expansion to first open a Western Canadian office in Vancouver in 2022, and later that year to open its first international office in New York City.
“We’ve had a lot of creative and business momentum over the past 12 months, with New York and Vancouver opening. None of it would be possible without this incredible team. They’re integral to how the agency moves forward into the future,” Zulu Alpha Kilo founder and creative chairman Zak Mroueh said in a news release.
