PrideAM appoints Genie Gurnani as awards chair

Pride in Advertising & Marketing (PrideAM), an LGBTQ organization for people working in the marketing industry, has named its first chairperson for its inaugural PrideAM Awards.

The 2024 PrideAM Awards will be chaired by Genie Gurnani, who has worked in creative roles with such brands as Netflix and Vice Media, as well as advertising agency J. Walter Thompson. Gurnani is also a former contestant on Drag Race Thailand.

As the chair of the 2024 PrideAM Awards, Gurnani will be tasked with spearheading a vision for the awards that celebrates exceptional marketing work within the LGBTQ community. A PrideAM news release about Gurnani’s appointment notes that the new chair’s “diverse background and commitment to authentic representation promise to elevate the awards’ mission of recognizing impactful campaigns and fostering inclusivity.”

“As a marketer, I know how advocacy can connect us with 2SLGBTQ+ audiences. But as a drag artist, I know first-hand how positive representation inspires and ignites our community. I’m thrilled to celebrate the remarkable creative efforts that are driving change in society. This work matters,” Gurnani said in the release.

The awards are accepting submissions until Jan. 31, with winners scheduled to be revealed in April.

PrideAM is a not-for-profit that works to improve support and representation for LGBTQ people within the marketing industry. First established in the U.K. in 2015, PrideAM is currently headquartered in Canada.
