Michael Cunningham has joined Coquitlam, B.C-based golf and country club, Westwood Plateau Entertainment as director of sales and marketing.

Cygnal Technologies Corporation in Oshawa, Ont. has promoted John Challinor to director of marketing and public affairs.

Agencies:

OMD Canada has hired Lorraine Hughes as president. She replaces retired president and CEO Ann Boden who now serves as the agency’s chairman. Hughes, who has a 25-year career in advertising, joins from the Toronto agency TBWAChiatDay where she worked as media director and director of operations for the past eight years.

A new management team has been selected at BBDO Montreal. Gregor Angus is hired as president, Martin Beauvais joins as EVP and creative director, and John Gallagher is appointed as EVP and managing partner. The team also comprises existing chairman and CEO Raymond Boucher, together with Pierre Nolin, president and CEO of Nolin Branding & Design, which became part of the BBDO group in 1997.

Bensimon*Byrne D’Arcy has appointed Guy Marini as SVP, general manager of the Toronto agency’s database marketing division, Clarion Direct. Marini has 18 years of agency and client experience, most recently working as president of management consulting firm, Blue Torpedo.

Marie-Andrée Bertrand has been hired by Montreal-based Marketel as VP of client services on the Desjardins account. Most recently she was director of marketing services for Molson Breweries.

Trapeze Communications in Victoria, B.C, has appointed Richard Fisher as director of strategic and client services. He has previously held senior positions with TBWAChiatDay, and Parallel Strategies and is a former director of the Advertising Agency Association of B.C.

Wolf Group Canada in Toronto has hired Aldo Braccio as a strategic planner. He joins from Cossette Communications, where he led strategic communications for Nike, Coca-Cola and General Mills, and also brings prior experience from Molson Breweries. The move marks the third major hire by Rob Guenette since he left Molson Canada to head up Wolf Group in January.

Cheryl Grishkewich has joined Toronto’s Leo Burnett as account director on the Zellers account. Kris Anderson also joins as account executive on the same business. Both come from Ammirati Puris.

Vancouver-based Hot Tomali Communications has hired Ivan Dancourt as account manager. He brings seven years of experience in the areas of Web site design, online marketing and agency management.

One on One Communications in Toronto has hired Vivian Owusu as an account executive. She has extensive experience in the marketing and communications industries, most recently working in sales and marketing at Brunico Communications, publisher of Strategy.

Media:

Gary Miles has been named CEO of radio at Rogers Broadcasting in Toronto, after 13 years with the broadcaster. Leslie Sole who has managed CFMT Television at Rogers since 1990, and overseen the launch of specialty channels including Biography, has been appointed CEO of television.

Peter Leupen has been hired by CanWest Media in Toronto as the vice-president of advertising sales at the National Post. Most recently with Rogers Media’s MoneySense magazine, Leupen has more than 18 years of experience in both traditional and electronic media.

Daniel Richard has been named managing director of the Quebec Weeklies Marketing Bureau which was created recently to support the marketing efforts of the province’s weekly newspapers. Richard brings 17 years of marketing experience from organizations including Metro and Groupe Everest.

MediaVest Worldwide (Canada) in Toronto has hired Linda Forbes as media supervisor for pharmaceuticals. She joins from sister-agency, Medicus Intercon.

Associations:

Gary Fearnall has been appointed as president of the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada (IAB Canada). Fearnall is VP of sales for Bell Globemedia Interactive BGMi.

Public Relations:

Martine Levy has been hired as managing director of a newly formed PR agency. PJDDB Public Relations is a joint venture between Toronto-based Palmer Jarvis DDB and BenchMark Porter Novelli, which aims to give advertising and PR services to PJDDB’s clients. Levy brings 20 years of PR experience to the role, most recently working as director of the consumer practice at BenchMark. Also joining the new enterprise are Selena Fiacco, senior consultant, and Christina Biluk, communications coordinator.
