Palmer Jarvis DDB has snagged the coveted Amicus Financial business, a North American account worth US$15 million to US$20 million annually. BBDO was the runner-up. Incumbent Perennial will remain as an integral partner. Amicus, a division of CIBC, provides electronic financial services for companies such as President’s Choice.
San Francisco-based retailer Williams-Sonoma, owners of Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids – both soon to be launched in Canada – has appointed Taxi Advertising of Toronto as its agency for Canada.
MasterCard Canada has awarded its strategic planning and media buy to AOR Media Management of Toronto.
Star Choice of Mississauga, Ont., has consolidated its estimated $10 million ad business with Due North Communications of Toronto, the firm that has handled the satellite television company’s retail, promotions and direct marketing assignments for the past few years. The bulk of the account – the brand business – has been with Leo Burnett Company, also of Toronto. Martel et Compagnie of Montreal will work with Due North on the French-language portion of the account.
Tourism P.E.I. has chosen Cossette Atlantic of Halifax to handle its $3 million tourism advertising account, following a review that included Publicis Canada on the shortlist. The contract runs for a three-year term. Cossette starts work immediately on the 2002 campaign.
Northern Tourism Marketing, in Timmins, Ont., has hired Padulo Integrated of Toronto as its new ad agency. The first work from the new agency, a co-promotion with Arctic Cat snowmobiles and ATVs, is now underway; a branding campaign will launch at a later date. The business was previously with J. Walter Thompson of Toronto.
The Health Canada Aboriginal program assignment has been split between Spirit Creative, an Ottawa agency specializing in communications to the Aboriginal community, and Montreal healthcare agency, Lacroix-Bleau Communication Marketing. The contract is for a three-year term.
Industry Canada has awarded its advertising to a consortium of four agencies: Acart Communications, Ottawa; Focus Strategies, Vancouver; Groupaction Integrated Communications, Montreal; and Compass Communications, Halifax. The consortium will handle advertising, marketing and public relations services for the department at both national and international levels.
