SEARS AND PHARMASAVE FORGE NEW DEAL

Sears Canada credit card holders can now use their cards to shop – and collect Sears Club points – at any of the 290 Pharmasave drug store locations across Canada. In an effort to offer its 9.1 million cardholders added value and convenience, Toronto-based Sears inked the deal with the independent retail drugstore chain last month. The partners say the alliance gives Pharmasave customers another payment option for their prescriptions and other health and beauty purchases, while building loyalty to Sears. Sears Cardholders will earn one Sears Club point for almost every dollar spent on their Sears card at Pharmasave locations. Sears cardholders can currently earn points and rewards at several other partner retail locations including Ticketmaster, Roots, Shell and IBM.

LOYALTY PORTAL RECRUITS U.S. REWARDS PROGRAM

Toronto-based Points.com announced it has signed a commercial agreement with online consumer rewards program PhoneHog.com, furthering its bid to establish a ‘loyalty asset management’ service portal for consumers who belong to multiple customer loyalty programs. The deal enables the more than 1.5 million members of Boca Raton, Fla.-based PhoneHog.com to participate in Points.com’s program, which aims to provide consumers with a central resource to track and manage their inventories of reward points from airline, credit card, retail and other loyalty programs. Earlier this year, Points.com announced similar commercial agreements with Alaska Airlines, America West Airlines, Midwest Express Airlines and beenz.com. PhoneHog.com is an opt-in Web site that rewards members with free long- distance time on a prepaid calling card for taking actions that benefit its advertisers, such as visiting an advertiser’s Web site, registering for its service or making a purchase.
